(the Bocoup logo, a fetching portrait of a rooster's head)So, exciting times: I got a new job! I start work as Programmer and Evangelist (yep that’s my title) at Bocoup in South Boston on 5/16. They’re a unique company focusing on JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 applications, and I’m going to cover the area where game development intersects with those technologies. After doing a lot of hobby projects in HTML5, I’m looking forward to doing it full time for Bocoup.

I’ll miss the team at Blue Fang Games and wish them the greatest success with Zoo Kingdom, The Oregon Trail, and Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? — it was incredibly fun to work on those games and they’ve been a great crew to work with. Incidentally, if you’re interested in gameplay metrics and have an analytical mind, Blue Fang is hiring my replacement. It’s a job and a workplace I highly recommend.

My work history thus far has been six months of QA and five years of gameplay metrics — not counting all the teaching I’ve done, which is kind of scattered in there. I’m really looking forward to starting this new chapter in my career as a game developer.

Congratulations! I have been very happy to see a few people change jobs lately, myself included. It bodes well for the economy.

I’ll be in Boston in about a week. Love to hear more about the new opportunity in person. I’ll let you know more via email.

Congratulations to you, Darius! Good luck on your new job. Hope someday soon you’ll find time to visit us here in France. We’re here until August 31. You can fly to Paris and take the train to Gourdon, where we can pick you up at the station.
