Here’s a 3-minute video review I made of Blendo Games’ Flotilla (Win/XBLIG). It’s a turn-based strategy game of small-scale space ship battles with a metagame that most resembles Strange Adventures in Infinite Space.

Download the demo or purchase the game for $10 on Windows or Xbox Live Indie Games!

Great review, this game looks right up my alley (I’ve been meaning to pick it up for some time.) Any perspective on which platform is better?

I think the distinction is: PC offers a mouse, which is better for navigating. Xbox offers easier hotseat multiplayer.

Ballet with spaceships. Brilliant. Cross-post please!

I don’t know if the full version is any different but I found the Beam Frigates to be way to much of a cakewalk. They’re big, slow, and heavily armored and they can’t shoot until you’re in range. They’ll both go for a single target and then you just lead them around the map shooting at them from both directions until they’re dust. This is why big ships ALWAYS end up with smaller escorts.

Other than that it seemed like quite a fun game. I wish they told you how long the full version campaign vs the demo was though.

I just played the demo for a bit. I kinda like it, but it hasn’t really sucked me in yet. I find it highly annoying how it changes the view when you get to selecting the rotation of your ship. Several times I got fooled by the perspective change and shot at the wrong ship.

Also: Steam’s having it’s huge deal for the next week or two, with this game going for very cheap. And for today only, it’s $2.50.

I love how this game really encapsulates the “Game in 15 minutes” concept. I find myself playing it over and over to have new adventures with spacefaring creatures!
