Gamasutra has posted their list of the top 20 women working in the video game industry. I’m really happy to see this list, I happen to agree completely with its composition. (In the past, I have been less happy with similar lists.)
Of the 20 women on this list, I personally hold 13 of them in very high esteem, and there are only 2 people on the list I haven’t heard of. All of them are excellent choices for the list. Of course, I could be biased: I know 8 of these women personally and they’re fantastic people in addition to being accomplished professionals.
I guess my only quarrel with the list is that I wish there were some women with primarily technical experience up there. On the other hand, I can’t think of any especially influential female programmers. I wonder if the list’s authors looked but simply couldn’t find any.
This is probably a good place to link to my informal look at female speakers at GDC, and also my thoughts on attracting more women to the game industry.

Congrats to Brathwaite for making it so high on the list. She definitely deserves it.
