I have very similar work routines and thoughts.
Except I’m way less productive (I actually only work on projects when I’m unemployed).

I like how you say you use “creating small things” to feed an “ecosystem of projects”. Small projects not only feed each other, but also feed your list ideas (yeah..i also have this super weird huge txt list on my desktop). By working on a lot of different things, you get to discover more technical possibilities, and new ideas arise. So the more things you make, the more things you make.

I think this idea of feeding an ecosystem goes beyond the creative process itself. I think when you’re releasing works, they somehow start to interact with each other. So, dozens of little projects can bring different lights upon each other, and form a bigger work that would more than the sum of all the little projects.

I think that it even goes beyond that. When I release something on the internet I know I’m contributing to something that we could call The Big Changing Book of the Internet. So sometimes it does not matter much if the project is big or small, as long as it can find its way in the mind of the audience and there, interact with all the other things they have seen that day (on the screen or anywhere else)

I find myself jumping from thing to thing a lot (and yes, posting things before they’re “finished”), and this article helps me hate myself less for doing so. Rather, embrace it. :) Realize limits, be reasonable with scope and make cool stuff over and over.
