GDC 2010

This has been the best GDC I’ve had in a very long time. I have a lot to write up and I promise I will.

In the meantime Matthew Wasteland (who was staying my hotel suite) has written what I’ve always wanted to: a pitch-perfect account of what it feels like to attend GDC. The crazy chance encounters, the topic-du-jour conversations experienced ten times over from slightly different angles, the late late late nights, the early mornings, the careful euphemisms, the NDA dance, the heroes, the old friends, the new friends, the drinking, the exhaustion, the elation… he covers it all. Read it.

Very good articles. Definitely captures the spirit of a GDC trip – or how a GDC trip should and could be, at least. I was pleasantly surprised to see the names of five of my classmates mentioned, too. Sadly, I couldn’t make it this year. Hopefully next time.

Since 2008, this is my 5th GDC in a row (including Austin). This one was definitely the best I’ve ever had. Too bad I never got a chance to see you there. Hope to see you next time!
