While certainly interesting and an excellent human-interest tie to art and artists of ages past, I think the emphasis serves to lessen the chances of actually changing anyone’s opinion of video games. Instead, I would venture to guess that many reading the piece would think “oh, how quaint” (or worse).

Still, it’s a good read and most any intelligent discourse about games in the mainstream media is an improvement – even if conversation about this particular article might be less about games and more about Rohrer’s atypical life choices.
