Free to Play, Bad Geek Joke

Free to play (FTP) is a term that’s bandied about a lot at most of the conferences I attend. Damion Schubert has some interesting things to say about it in a recent blog post titled “The Psychology of ‘Free’”.

It’s like I say: if FTP is the current hot thing in the online game space, then SFTP (somewhat free to play) is sure to follow closely.

It is true, though, that as someone with a largely web-based background, there were a couple of very brief ‘WTF’ moments wandering around the conference this year. Usually catching a sign on the trade floor out of the corner of my eye… :)
