When Good Box Art Goes Bad

Wow, Dead Space has some of the best box art I’ve seen in a long time. It’s a damn shame it has to have the stupid neon green Xbox 360 case border around it. Totally ruins the effect.

Ooh, yeah, that does look good.

Man, September and October are going to be BUSY.

Do you really find that box art good?

I think ICO’s is much, much better.

Daniel: a severed hand floating in space conjures up, among other things, images from Aliens and 2001. Also it doesn’t have a big burly guy with a gun frowning out at you. Or some monster frowning at you. Etc. Also the image really “pops” like a good cover (book, game, comic, whatever) should.

And sorry, when I think of ICO box art, I think of the American box art, which is pretty suck-tastic. The Japanese art you posted is stunning.

This makes me wonder if people have ever decided to put a game strictly on one console because of the that console’s game’s jewel case designs. The box looks much better with the PS3 packaging:

And, obviously, the best with PC packaging:

Makes me proud to be a PC gamer.
