in comics

This often incredibly offensive web comic, Hilarity Comics, sums up some of my more cynical feelings about gamers. Particularly this one.

(Thanks to Jurie for pointing me to this comic!)

For anyone who couldn’t keep up, here’s the running tab of things that have shit in Darius’s Cheerios lately

-Gaming webcomics
-Games that soothe people subject to overspecialization of labor
-Ethnic Wars
-The Discovery Channel
-Corporations that sell the nice parts of the world
-Snappy one-liners in movies.
-The New York Times
-Intrusive platform branding on video game box art
-Lighter fluid
-People who buy or use lighter fluid
-People who set fire directly to charcoal instead of to newspaper under charcoal
-White people rapping
-People with uninformed musical tastes
-Iranian clerics
-Gamers who push too hard for in-jokes

That’s an impressive list of things that I think suck! Although technically I have nothing against white rappers, as I love the Beastie Boys, MC Serch, and Aesop Rock–it’s people who will only listen to white rappers that I have a problem with.

And also, I have no problem with people who set fire directly to charcoal: it’s just that the only way to do that is with lighter fluid (barring very high-intensity lasers, magnified sunlight, or other nonconvenient energy sources). So really that should be rolled into the two that go before it.

Otherwise, you’re spot on.

Things that make me happy include but are not limited to: farmers market produce, Everyday Shooter, Walden Pond, homemade mayonnaise, and the Boston Post Mortem.

Hilarity Comics is awesome. Rather make PA look a bit like Family Circus. ;)

You realize that I am now obliged to say “HA! ‘Portal’ reference” to you next time we meet. No matter what you might actually say, including ‘Hi Jurie’ or ‘Jurie stop that’.
