Wow. Massachusetts-based Mad Doc Software has been acquired by Rockstar. Congratulations to all the guys there! I’m hoping this means growth for the company. What I’ve heard from folks over at Mad Doc so far has seemed pretty positive, so: huzzah!

I’m wondering what the difference is between a 2K-branded studio like 2K Boston and a Rockstar-branded studio like the newly minted Rockstar New England.

Me likes the name, “Rockstar New England.” Now here’s the interesting question. Rockstar is owned by Take 2, which also owns 2K, which bought out Irrational last summer and changed it to 2K Boston. Presently, EA is attempting a hostile takeover of Take Two. If they succeeded, this would mean that both 2K Boston and Rockstar New England would both become EA studios, in which case, would they just consolidate them into one huge, “EA Boston” studio, or leave them separate?

Cool; yet more visibility for US East coast game development. Hopefully some RNE folks will come to the Post Mortem tonight.
