It seems like the trick is to identify when a speaker you hear every year always says the same thing and *then* switch away to other things. From what I’ve gathered, there are always speakers like that and I’d say they offer a good opportunity to diversify.

For me, one consideration will be the likelihood that a given talk will be offered for viewing for free online after the conference. If it will be, and it’s a crowded talk, etc. it might be better to just hold out for the video later. It’s a risk, but could help maximize exposure to good talks. =)

Remember to mix up the usual speakers with something new here and there, after all, you don’t get the most out of GDC by talking/listening only to those you already know.
