Sort of Disappointing

I saw a link to a website which collects bad video game covers from over the years.

While the website is amusing, I noticed that practically every box has a picture of a goofy-looking guy on the front. Meanwhile, there were no game covers that featured the common “babe that has nothing to do with our game” trope. Apparently, the author of that site doesn’t consider ridiculously proportioned females on a box cover to be bad cover art. Sigh.

Did you happen to link there through GamesAreArt.com?

I’m pretty sure Santi doesn’t think irrelevant hotties is “good”, in fact the man is a pretty critical thinker about media techniques like that. I think you’re reading into a coincidence, and I’m also fairly sure that most scantily clad girls in games are used in print ads more than covers per se, particularly back in the “golden ages”, where the majority of the sites material comes from.
