I like that I can have conversations with certain people where I get to say something like, “So let’s look at game design patterns from an MDA standpoint: you’re saying that patterns should concern… just Mechanics? Just Dynamics?”
I dunno. It’s just cool that I get to talk like this!

I totally know the feeling. Its a borderline “cool” sensation when you’re using specialized terms in agile ways, almost like how a rockstar will make an edgy yet understated quote, but technical and for a small audience of other theory lovers.
just on an off topic…
i’ve heard those words said before, but i am not clear on their meaning. What do mechanics and dynamics mean in the context of games? Are they the same thing or how are they different?
thanks.
se: If you follow the “MDA” link, you can read stuff where the inventor of “Mechanics, Dynamics, Aesthetics,” Mark LeBlanc, explains it a million times better than I can.
ohhh… i get it. :)
sorry, didn’t see the links. :p
