Games on the Google OS

Here’s a question: what kinds of games could run on the Google OS? I’m not talking about play-by-Gmail or anything like that. Wrap your head around the Google OS idea first (I’m still working on that), and then think about the gaming possibilities. Something like I Love Bees sort of resonates, but I’m not sure how just yet…

Hey, Darius. The key to ILoveBees is that it was essentially a giant searching game, with a lot of ‘compute and compare’ thrown in.

Google could do better than a simple game, perhaps. ILoveBees was a bunch of designers trying to make problems that required a lot of searching, computing, and comparing. Google already does all that using slightly balky computer algorithms (all computer algorithms are slightly balky at that sort of thing).

Thought of from the right viewpoint… a ‘game’ hosted on GooOS could easily be people doing very valuable work enhancing Google’s core operations by creating a giant HUMAN-calibrated network of correctly related data.

Hell, I’d love to design it. :D

The GoogleOS is an amazing concept.

Of course, Google games would be done using fancy DHTML, just like Google Maps.

I mean, hey, someone wrote Lemmings in DHTML

Darius — IMO a big part of the WebOS is OurMedia.org (just launched this week). This is a website, backed by Brewster Kahle’s Internet Archive, that is offering to host anyone’s audio/video/text/images, for free, forever, unlimited space. This is the beginning of the techno-utopia, baby.
